St. Pius V Palace, home of the museum

The palace of St. Pius V, houses the Museum of Fine Arts in Valencia, a superb showcase for a museum that certainly deserves it, because in terms of paintings is one of the most important museums of Spain. Already, the building is a masterpiece of eighteenth century architecture and is currently home to the Royal Academy of San Carlos. The palace of St. Pius V has had several applications among which we highlight its use as a hospital in the Spanish Civil War.

One of the marvels of this palace is the Patio of the Palace of Ambassador Vic, recovered for the Museum in the year 2006, since it has important pieces of marble Spanish Renaissance.

The Museum of Fine Arts in Valencia, as we have said before, one of the most important in Spain in terms of pictorial collection, we can find the authentic works of art as self-portrait by Diego Velazquez, archaeological pieces as the Head of Agrippina The table valued gothic medieval collection, San Juan Bautista of El Greco, important engravings of Giovanni Battista Piranesi, the rocker game nNOS or D Lock Joaquina Francisco de Goya, Joaquin Sorolla Valencia Croup, as well as works by John Valdes, Jose de Ribera, among others.

The museum is open every day of the year except January 1st, Good Friday and December 25.

Museum hours are Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 20pm

The museum is located on the street Pio V, number 9 of Valencia, in the Royal Gardens (in front of the left bank of the Turia old riverbed).
